Hello there, Birmingham. I'm here in your inbox per usual to tell you everything you need to know about what's going on around town. Here's the lowdown.

First, today's weather:

A p.m. t-storm; humid. High: 79 Low: 69.

📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Birmingham who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.

I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our Birmingham Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.

Here are the top three stories today in Birmingham:

  1. Central Alabama Pride's 12-day celebration will begin on Jun. 1! There will be events for almost two weeks — the majority of which will take place in Linn Park — all leading up to the annual Pridefest, which will take place on Jun. 12. Events such as interfaith services, concerts, fundraisers, film screenings, and a parade will be held throughout the 12 days to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, and celebrate love in Birmingham. All Birmingham residents are invited and encouraged to celebrate together and join in on the fun! (Birmingham Times)
  2. On Sunday night, a car crash on Interstate 65 killed a pedestrian. The accident took place close to the Green Springs Avenue exit at around 9:00 p.m.; the victim, an adult woman, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after. The victim was hit after walking in the travel lanes on the major road. The driver called 911 upon impact, and the woman has yet to be identified by authorities as of this writing. (AL.com)
  3. After a recent outbreak of Canine Distemper Virus, the Greater Birmingham Humane Society will be allowing adoptions to take place again, starting today! All across the southeast region, many shelters had to temporarily close after learning about the outbreak for the safety of the animals. The process of handling the illness was extensive and expensive for the shelter, but worth it to save the lives of these adorable pets. Before being put up for adoption, all animals in the shelter had to be tested and quarantined to ensure they were safe and healthy before finding their forever home. (Bham Now)
