BIRMINGHAM AL -- Among the many stories that made headlines on Patch during the past week, a couple of the stories happened on a statewide level, rather than in metro Birmingham. One, the state's first vaping-related death was reported in Alabama.

In another story, an employee of the City of Demopolis who worked at a prison in the scity was arrested for an improper relationship with an inmate.

First Vaping-Related Death Recorded In Alabama

Alabama had been one of the states thus far that has not been affected by deaths due to electronic cigarettes — or, vaping — until now. An East Alabama man died this week in what the Alabama Department of Health is saying was a vaping-related illness.
