Verbal Altercation Leads To Fatal Shooting: Police

Police say a fatal shooting in Birmingham Sunday occurred after a verbal altercation between two men.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A 24-year-old Birmingham man is dead after a verbal altercation led to a fatal shooting, police said. The shooting occurred at a home at 800 47th Street North just before 5 p.m. Sunday.

Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said officers discovered Reginald Martin lying in the front doorway of the home suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.

Mauldin said Wednesday that Martin's death has been ruled justifiable and no charges will result from the shooting.
