Here are the top three stories today in Birmingham:
- The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department and Fire Department are looking to help Birmingham youth choose healthy, positive outlets for conflict with its new summer video game truck. Every first Friday in June, July, and August, this video game truck will stop in a community in the Birmingham area. The departments hope this initiative will encourage young people to pick up game controllers instead of guns. (WVTM13 Birmingham)
- A new program at the University of Alabama - Birmingham is hoping to educate the community about the effects and long-term treatments of venomous snakebites. The UAB Comprehensive Snakebite Program was launched last year by William Rushton and wound-care expert Dag Shapshak. It includes one of the nation’s first dedicated snakebite follow-up clinics, which treats patients in the hospital and studies new approaches and protocols in snakebite treatment. (WBRC)
- Looking for a new home in the greater Birmingham area? Check out these five local properties that have recently been listed for sale.
