Violent Storm Blows Through Lou Holtz Appearance In Hayden
A severe storm ransacked an outdoor event for Traditions Bank featuring coach Lou Holtz, with 12 people being hospitalized.
HAYDEN, AL - Traditions Bank stockholders were gathered for their annual meeting in Hayden Thursday afternoon when a violent thunderstorm came through, plowing through the tent under which the meeting was being held. The event, which featured a keynote speech by legendary football coach Lou Holtz, was attended by hundreds of people, which meant several injuries were reported.
According to WBRC in Birmingham,West Blount Fire Chief J.J. Ivey confirmed that 12 people were injured. Nine people suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Six of them were taken by ambulance to area hospitals and three of them were considered serious injuries.

Although witnesses did confirm that Holtz was at the meeting, reports indicate he was not among those injured.
