The annual Renew Our Rivers Cahaba River cleanup is Saturday, April 7.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Volunteers for Renew Our Rivers, one of the Southeast’s largest river cleanup campaigns, are set to help clean up the Cahaba River Saturday, April 7. This Renew Our Rivers cleanup is coordinated by Cahaba Riverkeeper, Friends of the Cahaba River National Wildlife Refuge and Alabama Power.
Volunteers are asked report at 8 a.m. to the Cahaba River National Wildlife Refuge near West Blocton. Minors must have a chaperone to participate. Volunteers should wear long pants and sturdy shoes. The cleanup will end at noon followed by lunch for the volunteers.
Volunteers from Renew Our Rivers have collected more than 15 million pounds of trash and debris since the program’s inception in 2000. This year, 30 cleanups are planned through November on the Alabama, Black Warrior, Cahaba, Chattahoochee, Coosa, Mobile and Tallapoosa rivers.
