Warming Station Open At Boutwell Auditorium Tuesday Night
Freezing temperatures throughout the Birmingham metro area prompted the city to open a warming station at Boutwell Auditorium.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - With temperatures expected to dip into the 20s Tuesday night, Birmingham mayor Randall Woodfin announced the city will open a warming station at Boutwell Auditorium. It will operate from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m., giving those without adequate heat or housing a warm place to shelter.
"It's important that the homeless and the heatless have a warm place to stay during these cold, winter nights. I'm glad that we will be able to offer the Boutwell again to those in need,'' Woodfin in a statement released by his office.
Volunteers are needed for the station, according to the mayor's office, and donations of food, bottled water, toilet paper, paper towels, feminine hygiene products and travel-size products such as lotion, shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes and lip balm are also needed.
