Weather Update: More Severe Storms Expected In Birmingham Area
The National Weather Service expects more heavy storms to sweep through Birmingham Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — The Birmingham area saw a brief break Wednesday from the heavy rain and flash flooding earlier this week, but the National Weather Service warns that Wednesday night and Thursday morning could bring more severe weather.
"A few severe storms are possible tonight into early Thursday morning," the agency posted in a statement Wednesday afternoon. "The main threats will be damaging winds up to 60 MPH, but a brief tornado cannot be ruled out. The best chance for severe storms appears to be across the northern and western parts of our area."
An approaching cold front will bring a narrow band of strong to severe thunderstorms to Alabama tonight, according to meteorologist James Spann.

Spann said a narrow line of storms will enter the northwest corner of the state around 8 p.m. Wednesday, which should reach Huntsville, Jasper and Tuscaloosa by 11 p.m. and reach Birmingham by 1 a.m.
The main threats this weather system will bring to the area include strong winds and small hail.
