West Birmingham Shooting: 41-Year-Old Man Dead

A man was killed in west Birmingham Wednesday afternoon during a drive-by shooting, police say.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A reported drive-by shooting in west Birmingham Wednesday claimed the life of a 41-year-old Birmingham man. Police say Rashion Cook was shot and killed just after 5:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of Maple Avenue.

Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said the preliminary investigation suggests that an unknown vehicle drove up to the location and fired shots, fatally wounding the victim.

Mauldin said detectives have not established a motive in this investigation, and no suspects are in custody.
