What Do To In Birmingham This Weekend: Dec. 13-15

From breakfast with Santa Claus to live music events, the weekend is full of events in and around Birmingham.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — For the first weekend in months, no college football games in the state are happening, and that means people in the Birmingham area will be on the hunt for something to do. Luckily, the Magic City has plenty events happening in the metro area.

Here are some of the events in and around Birmingham Dec. 13-15:

Friday, Dec. 13

North Pole Express; Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum, Calera, 5 p.m.: The North Pole Express makes its way by starlight "to the top of the world." On the way, you'll listen to a whimsical Christmas story, sing your favorite holiday carols, and watch out the windows for the bright lights of the North Pole to appear.

Daughters, w/ HEALTH; Saturn Birmingham, 8 p.m.: Daughters is an American rock band formed in 2002, in Providence, Rhode Island after the break-up of As the Sun Sets. The band's current line-up consists of vocalist Alexis S.F. Marshall, guitarist Nicholas Andrew Sadler, drummer Jon Syverson, and bassist Samuel Moorehouse Walker.

Yacht Rock Revue; Iron City, Birmingham, 7 p.m.: Come see one of the hottest tribute bands in the country play your favorite "Yacht Rock" tunes, from Michael McDonald to Boz Skaggs.

Saturday, Dec. 14

Breakfast with Santa; Birmingham Zoo, Birmingham, 8-10 a.m.: Enjoy a scrumptious scrambled eggs, pancakes and sausage breakfast with orange juice and coffee at Nourish 205 restaurant followed by a visit from Santa. All children will receive a special holiday gift upon arrival. Event price covers Zoo admission for the day, Unlimited Ride Wristband, breakfast, holiday craft, animal greeting and a visit and photo op with Santa.

CahaBAZAAR Holiday Market; Cahaba Brewing Co., Birmingham, 12-6 p.m.: Artists and makers from all over the state convene to sell their wares at Cahaba Brewing Co. in Avondale. Pottery, artwork, jewelry and more will be available for purchase.

UAB Blazers v. Montevallo; Bartow Arena, Birmingham, 7 p.m.: Coem cheer on the UAB Blazers basketball team as they take on the Montevallo Falcons. The Blazers are playing their last few games before beginning Conference USA play.

Sunday, Dec. 15

White Christmas Sing-Along; Alabama Theatre, Birmingham, 2 p.m.: This screening of this classic film features the words to the songs in the movie played on the screen so viewers can sing along.

26th Annual Zoolight Safari; Birmingham Zoo, Birmingham, 5-9 p.m.: Watch as the Birmingham Zoo comes alive for a jubilant holiday celebration at the 26th Annual ZooLight Safari presented by Wells Fargo. Be amazed by enchanting illuminations and a million sparkling lights.

Just Track It; Barber Motorsports Park, Leeds, 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m.: Open to licensed drivers age 16 or older, this program gives participants the chance for extensive track time for all driver levels from first timers to seasoned racers. They provide instruction to novice drivers in the form of in car coaching and classroom chalk talk sessions.
