What To Do In Birmingham This Weekend: May 18-20

Want to get out in the Birmingham metro area this weekend? There is plenty to do if you know where to go.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Spring is in the air in Alabama, and that means more people are itching to get out of their homes and find something fun to do. Luckily, there is plenty to do this weekend in the Birmingham metro area, ranging from music shows, festivals and concerts to sporting events and outdoors activities.

Here are just some of the events happening in the area this weekend:

Birmingham Barons Baseball: The Barons are home at Regions Field this weekend hosting the Montgomery Buscuits. The Barons have a 7:05 Friday night game, which is Star Wars Night, with a Star Wars theme, and fireworks after the game; a 6:30 Saturday night game featuring a Coca-Cola Camo Hat Giveaway for the first 1,000 fans through the gate; and a 3 p.m. Sunday game where kids will be allowed to run the bases at the end of the game. $7-$15

Regions Tradition Golf Tournament: The five major championships on PGA TOUR Champions will kick off with the Regions Tradition, which returns to Greystone Golf & Country Club in Hoover the week of May 14-20. Participants include Tom Kite, Bernhard Langer, John Daly, Mark Calcavecchia, Fred Funk and more. Tickets starting at $20.

40th Annual Do Dah Day: The fun and furry event Saturday benefiting the Greater Birmingham Humane Sociaety and Friends of Cats and Dogs takes place at Rhodes and Caldwell parks in Birmingham's Highland Park neighborhood. It starts with a parade at 11:01 a.m. and the event lasts until dark. More info here. $Free

Willie Nelson & Family and Allison Krauss: The legendary musician Willie Nelson comes to the Oak Mountain Amphitheater Saturday night. He is joined by blue-grass star Allison Krauss, and both will share the stage for an unforgettable night. Tickets start at $30.

Great Southern Gun & Knife Show: Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the BJCC. Come see the hundreds of tables full of new and old guns, knives, ammo, gun parts, reloading supplies, holsters and other related products at discounted prices.
