Where To Find Birmingham's Best Sandwich
Patch looked at consumer review sites to determine where to find the best sandwiches in Birmingham.
BIRMINGHAM, AL - When lunchtime approaches each day, Americans are likely to enjoy a sandwich for their mid-day meals. In fact millions of sandwiches are consumed for lunch each day in the United States.
Food historians generally attribute the creation of the sandwich, as we know it today, to Jon Montague, 4th Earl of Sandwich. Most people have likely heard the story. Montague had a fondness for gambling, and - as the story is often told - in 1762, during a 24 hour gambling streak he instructed a cook to prepare his food in such a way that it would not interfere with his game. The cook presented him with sliced meat between two pieces of toast. The sandwich was born.
