Which Birmingham Area Grocery Stores Are Open On Thanksgiving

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Although Thanksgiving is mostly reserved for family time, watching some football, eating a huge meal and leftovers later, sometimes - whether it be an emergency or just something forgotten on the shopping list - people do need to head to the grocery store on Thanksgiving day.

Luckily for some, several area grocery stores will be open on Thanksgiving - though most will not operate under their normal schedule. (For more updates on this story and free news alerts for your neighborhood, sign up for your local Patch morning newsletter.)

Aldi, Costco, Publix, Sam's Club and Trader Joe's will be closed all day on Thanksgiving. However, the following area stores will be open at some point on Thursday:

• Fresh Market: open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Sprouts: markets will operate from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Target: stores will open at 5 p.m. for Black Friday sales and close at 1 a.m.
• Walmart: stores will open at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving for Black Friday sales
• Whole Foods: hours for most stores are usually 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
• Winn Dixie: open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
