JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — The Jefferson County Sheriff's office is investigating an unlawful imprisonment case involving a woman who said she was held against her will in a Jefferson County mobile home for nearly a month.

Chief Deputy David Agee said a woman flagged down a deputy Saturday just before 7 p.m. in the 4300 block of Bessemer Super Highway. The Hispanic woman spoke through an interpreter and told investigators she had been held against her will for about a month at a trailer in the Holiday Mobile Home Park.

"The woman said that the man who held her was from Guatemala and that he told her if she left bad things would happen to her," Agee said. "The woman said that she was in possession of a cell phone the entire time but was only able to escape today."
