Woman Lucky To Survive Bullet That Shattered Her Car Window

BIRMINGHAM, AL - A woman sitting in her car on University Boulevard in Birmingham was shocked when suddenly her passenger side window shattered. The incident was the result of a shootout in the South Town housing projects Wednesday night that left the motorist injure dby the shattered glass.

Authorities said no other injuries were reported during the shootout, but reports of multiple gun shots had residents of the housing community taking cover. A report by WVTM said a worker at the Shell gas station near that neighborhood told customers inside the store hit ground, while many customers took off running when the shots rang out.

People who live the complex say they hit the ground as well for safety. Birmingham police say the shooters are still on the run.
