Woman Sentenced To 10 Years After DUI
A woman involved in a fatal wreck while she was driving under the influence has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

LEEDS, AL _ A Leeds woman who was driving under the influence of controlled substances during a 2016 wreck that left one victim dead has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
According to a report by Alabama Media Group, Jefferson County Circuit Judge Laura Petro sentenced Jennifer Schrecongost to 10 years in prison with one year to serve. A jury convicted Schrecongost of reckless manslaughter in March for the death of Meredith Jones.

The incident occurred Feb. 3, 2106 in the 7400 block of Parkway Drive, or U.S. 78. Leeds police said Schrecongost was traveling eastbound on U.S. 78 in a white Nissan Altima when she crossed over the median and into oncoming traffic. Schrencongost and a 3-year-old girl in the car with her were both were hospitalized for their injuries.
An appeal is expected.
