Women Leaders In City's Culinary Scene To Host Fundraising Dinner
Some of the biggest names in the Birmingham culinary scene have put together a dinner to raise money for Les Dames d'Escoffier.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Some of the top female leaders of the highly-touted Birmingham culinary scene are putting together a dinner in October for a fundraiser to benefit the Birmingham Chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier International.
Les Dames d’Escoffier International (LDEI) is a worldwide society of women dedicated to creating a culture in the community that fosters excellence and promotes the achievement of women in culinary professions through educational and charitable activities. The invitation only membership is composed of dozens of individual chapters across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Mexico. The local Birmingham chapter was founded in 2013 and now includes 48 women leaders in the Birmingham food industry.
The fundraiser takes place October 7 at Jones Valley Teaching Farm, located at 701 25th Street North. The menu was put together by Pardis Stitt of Highlands Bar & Grill and Kay Reed of Iz Weddings & Events, based on recipes from the organization's namesake, Auguste Escoffier. The recipes are being reinterpreted by Birmingham chefs and restaurant owners who are members of the Birmingham chapter of LDEI.The menu includes hors d’oeuvres prepared by Reed, Deborah Stone of Stone Hollow Farm and Mary Grace Viado of Village Tavern. Entrees will be prepared by Reed, Kathy Mezrano of Kathy G & Co., Carey Thomasson of DINNER and Ashley McMakin of Ashley Mac’s. A special cocktail will be served, mixed by Steva Casey, a bartender at The Atomic Lounge.
