Officials say the four-lane corridor will improve emergency travel times, connect to U.S. 31 near I-65, and attract new industrial and commercial development.

Civil rights lawyers argue true integration has not been achieved and vow to resist Trump administration efforts to close long-running cases they say still protect Black students' educational opportunities statewide.
