• Speed Stampede race to benefit Maranathan Academy (thehomewoodstar.com) — Homewood runners can lace up for the Speed Stampede on Saturday, May 30, as the Kiwanis Club of Homewood-Mountain Brook hosts a fast, professionally timed 2-mile race near The Grocery Brewpub. The event raises funds for Maranathan Family Learning Center & Academy, which supports critically at-risk youth and adults. Registration is open now for ages 3 to 110.
   

• Homewood Theatre closes season with Tony-nominated musical 'Working' (thehomewoodstar.com) — Homewood Theatre is wrapping up its season with the Tony-nominated musical “Working,” running May 28 through June 7 right here in Homewood. The show celebrates everyday workers through stories and songs by top composers, and organizers say it also nods to America’s upcoming 250th birthday. Evening and Sunday matinee performances are scheduled, with tickets available online.
   

• UAB Libraries Share AI Resources, Skills with Alabama's K-12 Educators (birminghamtimes.com) — Homewood educators joined colleagues from across Alabama at UAB Libraries for a free workshop on how to use artificial intelligence responsibly in K-12 classrooms. Participants explored AI tools, policy ideas, and new state digital literacy standards, leaving with practical resources to guide students’ ethical, effective AI use. The effort aims to strengthen media and AI literacy in local schools.
