• Homewood hires 2 new assistant principals (thehomewoodstar.com) — Homewood City Schools has named two new assistant principals for the 2026-27 year, including a leader for Homewood Middle School and another for Hall-Kent Elementary. One is an experienced Georgia educator joining the district, while the other is a longtime Hall-Kent teacher and recent Elementary Teacher of the Year. Both officially step into their new roles on July 1.
   

• Homewood mayor talks future of hemp sales in city (wbrc.com) — Homewood leaders are weighing how the city should handle new state rules for licensing stores that sell consumable hemp products. Mayor Jennifer Andress says no decisions or votes have been taken yet and wants residents’ feedback before choosing among several licensing options. Any proposal would come back to a future City Council meeting that the public can attend.
   

• Mallory Creel named new assistant principal at Greystone Ele... (shelbycountyreporter.com) — A former Homewood City Schools fifth-grade teacher, Mallory Creel, has been named the new assistant principal at Greystone Elementary in Hoover. Her experience in Homewood included promoting a house system and student leadership initiatives, along with character education work. She brings 14 years of teaching and leadership experience as she starts the role July 1.
