2 Children Die In 4-Vehicle Accident In Hoover

Another child died as a result of a car accident Thursday in Hoover. The children were 8 and 11 years old.

HOOVER, AL — A traffic accident in Hoover Thursday morning involving four vehicles resulted in the death of an 8-year-old child and an 11-year-old child. The incident occurred around 7:45 a.m. on Highway 31 in front of Hoover Square shopping center.

Hoover police said a GMC truck was traveling southbound when it struck a Honda Fit from behind. The Honda was then propelled into the back of a Lexus, which in turn hit a Ford truck from behind.

An 8-year-old girl in the back seat of the Honda was taken to Children's of Alabama where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Police said the driver of the Honda, a 35-year-old woman, was taken to UAB hospital with minor injuries. The front seat passenger, a 13-year-old boy, was taken to Children's of Alabama with minor injuries and an 11-year-old passenger in the back seat sustained serious injuries, and died Saturday at Children's of Alabama.

The driver of the Lexus sustained minor injuries, while the driver of the Ford truck and the driver and passenger of the GMC truck were not injured.
