9 Hoover Schools Named to 'America’s Healthiest Schools' List
Nine Hoover schools are the only Alabama schools listed in a nationwide list of the healthiest schools in the U.S.
HOOVER, AL — Schools are not only given the responsibility of teaching academics to students. They are also tasked with making sure students are healthy while they are in the schools' care. Hoover City Schools has been recognized for their academics before, but are now recognized for promoting healthy lifestyles for their students.
The Alliance for a Healthier Generation listed nine Hoover schools to its list of "America's Healthiest Schools. The list, published Monday morning, identifies 355 of the nation’s healthiest schools based on the school’s ability to meet a rigorous set of criteria – including serving healthier meals and snacks, getting students moving more, offering high-quality health and physical education, and empowering school leaders to become healthy role models.

- Bluff Park Elementary School
- Brock's Gap Intermediate School
- Green Valley Elementary School
- Harriette Gwin Elementary School

- Shades Mountain Elementary School
- Riverchase Elementary School
These schools are the only recognized schools in the state of Alabama.
