'Alarming Message' To Hoover Student Prompts Added Security

A message sent to a Hoover school student that was threatening in nature turned out to lack credibility, according to police.

HOOVER, AL — A message sent to a student in the Hoover school system Tuesday was considered "alarming in nature" by police, prompting added security measures. The message eventually turned up no credible threat, police said.

"Yesterday we were made aware of an RC3 student that received an AirDrop message that was alarming in nature," said the Hoover Police Department in a statement Wednesday. "SROs and Detectives are investigating this situation, and there is nothing to indicate the message was credible."

The Hoover PD did put extra security measures in place while investigating the threat.

The message to the student read, "Tomorrow all chocolate kids will die," and the student, who attends the Riverchase Career Connection Center, immediately alerted school officials who then notified Hoover police.

"This threat was taken seriously and an investigation began immediately; the investigation has now concluded," Hoover City Schools said in a statement. "In working alongside the Hoover Police Department, we have determined there is no credible safety threat to our students, and the incident was not racially motivated."
