Arrest Made In Church Burglary

The Hoover Police Department has made an arrest in the burglary of a burglary at St. Alban's Episcopal Church.

HOOVER, AL - The Hoover Police Department has made an arrest related to the May 21 burglary at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church. Charles Thomas Cain III , 31, of Hoover has been charged with two counts of third degree burglary.

According to the Hoover PD, on May 21, police responded to a report of a burglary at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, located at 429 Cloudland Drive. The pastor arrived that afternoon to find that someone forced entry into the church and ransacked the church office; however, nothing was reported missing.

A witness reported seeing a male wearing dark clothing running away from the area at approximately 5:45 a.m. On May 22, that witness became a burglary victim after her residence on Maiden Lane was burglarized while she was away from home. "The suspect forced entry into the home and stole some prescription medication," said the report from the Hoocer PD. "Hoover detectives learned that another agency arrested a male fitting the description of the burglary suspect and went to interview him. The suspect told detectives that he is a heroin addict and that he broke into the church and the residence on Maiden Lane looking for cash."

Cain is currently in custody at the Jefferson County Jail. He is being held on $30,000 bond.
