Bessemer Inmate Captured After Brief Escape
A Bessemer City Jail inmate escaped Wednesday while being transported to Jefferson County Jail.

BESSEMER, AL — An inmate at the Bessemer City Jail escaped just after noon Wednesday while being transported to Jefferson County Jail. Blake Houston Hobbs, 30, was captured around 6:30 p.m., according to Hoover police.
Hobbs was being held on charges unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police say he escaped on foot toward Arlington Avenue in Bessemer.
Bessemer police, Hoover police and the Jefferson County Sheriff's office all joined in on the search for Hobbs. Police did not specify where he was captured.
