Budget Proposals by Hoover Schools, City Council This Week
The Hoover City Council and Hoover City Schools will each present budget proposals Thursday for the current fiscal year.

HOOVER, AL - As the new fiscal year begins in October for both the city and the school system in Hoover, both entities will present their proposed budgets for the coming year Thursday. For the school system, this will be the first of two budget hearings, with the next one scheduled for September 11.
A report by the Hoover Sun said Hoover Mayor Frank Brocato and Chief Financial Officer Melinda Lopez plan to present the mayor’s 2019 budget proposal during the City Council work session at 5 p.m. at the Hoover Municipal Center.
The budget hearing will not be nearly as gloomy as it was expected to be earlier in the year when Brocato said he feared a budget shortfall of nearly $2 million. With the passing of increased lodging, sales and personal property taxes, that shortfall is expected to be offset.
