Domestic Dispute In Shelby County: Woman Dead, Deputy Injured
A woman is dead after reportedly trying to run over a Shelby County deputy with her car after a domestic incident.

SHELBY COUNTY, AL — A domestic violence incident in Shelby County Monday resulted in one death and a Shelby County Sheriff's deputy with serious injuries.
The incident occurred just before 6 p.m. when deputies responded to a call of a domestic disturbance in the 1400 block of Mooney Road. A report from the Shelby County Sheriff's Office said a deputy was injured during the initial investigation when a woman struck the deputy with her car, and deputies on the scene fired their weapons, which resulted in the woman being shot and killed.
"Any situation that involves the loss of life is tragic regardless of the circumstances," Sheriff John Samaniego said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected including the family and friends who lost a loved one and all the deputies involved."

The deputy injured in the incident was hospitalized Monday night and released Tuesday.
The investigation will be conducted by members of the Shelby County Major Crimes Task Forcewhose members are employed by other municipalities within Shelby County, and their investigation will be overseen by the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office.
