Fatal Shooting Investigation In Shannon
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal shooting in the Shannon community near Hoover.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - A shooting is under investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office that occurred Monday afternoon in the 1500 block of Doss Drive in the Shannon community. Two men were shot - one shot and killed - inside a home during a suspected home invasion. The person killed has been identified as 62-year-old Jack Eugene Blanks of Bessemer.
According to the JCSO, deputies arrived at the crime scene to find one adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and a second adult male dead on the scene.
Preliminary information from the scene is that two men came to the home with an adult female and confronted the homeowner. An argument ensued and the homeowner, also an adult male fired shots striking both men. The female fled the scene after the shots were fired. The homeowner remained on the scene and is being questioned by detectives. The person injured has been transported to an area hospital.
