Former Hoover Mayor Gary Ivey Dies

Ivey, who passed away Tuesday evening, served as Hoover's mayor from 2011 until 2016.

HOOVER, AL - Former Hoover Mayor Gary Ivey died Tuesday in his home in Clanton at the age of 63. Ivey served as mayor from 2011 until he was defeated by current Mayor Frank Bocato in 2016.

The former CEO of Hoover’s Crest Cadillac, Ivey succeeded Tony Petelos as mayor of Hoover after Petelos became Jefferson County manager.

In addition to his service to the city, Ivey formerly served as a trustee for Church of the Highlands, and is survived by his two adult daughters, Nicole and Tyler.
