HOOVER, AL — The Hoover Police Department is investigating a shooting that killed a 55-year-old victim in an apartment complex Sunday night. The incident occurred just after 6 p.m. Sunday at the 200 building at The Park at Hoover apartment complex.

A report by the Hoover PD said officers found 55-year-old Robert Michael Lyons suffering from at least one gunshot wound when they arrived on the scene. He was pronounced dead on the scene by Hoover Fire-medics. The shooter, Austyn Reese McMillian, 24, turned himself in to the officers on the scene. He has been charged with murder.

The Hoover PD said the Lyons and McMillian had been hanging out together earlier in the evening and based on witness statements, they were involved in an argument prior to the shooting.
