Hoover Kids Win Awards At Hoover City Leaders Breakfast
Several Hoover Schools students were presented with awards for essays, poems and art projects and some were presented with scholarships.

HOOVER, AL - The 2018 Hoover City Leaders Breakfast was held January 25 at Discovery United Methodist Church. The annual event, organized by the Hoover Parent Teacher Council, included Mayor Frank Brocato, Hoover City Council members, school board members/officials, and various members of the Police and Fire Departments.
HPD and HFD honored student winners of poetry, art and essay contests related to firefighting and school resource officers.

Essay awards
1st place: Ruby Taylor, Rocky Ridge Elementary, for her essay on SRO Jon “Super Hero” Autrey
2nd place: Katherine Laney, Greystone Elementary, for her essay on SRO Katie “Awesome Sauce” Bonham
3rd place: Taylen Mattox, Shades Mountain Elementary, for his essay on SRO Mark Hearn

1st Place: Sophia Latham of Rocky Ridge Elementary
2nd Place: Taylor Poer of Trace Crossings Elementary
3rd Place: Josie Provost of South Shades Crest Elementary.
Gwin Elementary School student Sarah Roy won the fire prevention art contest, which included a $100 savings bond as a prize.
Hoover Police Department $500 College Scholarship award winners were:
