Hoover Man Arrested, Accused Of Impersonating Police
Victims reported a man in a black SUV attempted to pull over motorists in the Greystone area Thursday night.

HOOVER, AL — A man has been arrested by Hoover police and charged with impersonating a police officer. The incident occurred Thursday night in the Greystone neighborhood.
Hoover Police received a report of someone in a black SUV attempting to pull over motorists on Greystone Way near Castlehill Road at approximately 10 p.m. Thursday. Officers were unable to locate a vehicle matching that description initially, but at 12:19 a.m., police received a call from a victim who stated someone in a black SUV pulled in behind her vehicle and activated flashing red and blue lights on Greystone Way.
The SUV then reportedly pulled in front of her vehicle, forcing her to stop. She stated a male exited the vehicle and produced some type of badge. The victim was not certain that this was an actual police officer, so she drove away and called 911. Responding officers located a black GMC Yukon with a male matching the description on Greystone Way near Linkside Drive.

A red and blue dash light, three firearms, a D.E.A. hat, and three fake badges were located inside the vehicle. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Hoover City Jail. Police have charged James Andrew Gray, 27, of Hoover with impersonating a peace officer . He is held on $5,000 bond.
Gray will be transferred to the Shelby County Jail later today. If anyone has information about this case or feels they may have been stopped by Gray, please contact Sergeant Reggie Parker at 205-739-7448.
