HOOVER, AL — A Hoover man is in custody in the Jefferson County Jail, charged in connection to multiple crimes involving a young girl. Amran Mohsen Kassim Almansoob, 24, surrendered Monday.

Hoover police Lt. Keith Czeskleba said the department’s Special Victims Unit launched an investigation in early August after receiving information from police in Castle Rock, Colorado.

Detectives were able to identify a 13-year-old victim in Jefferson County and late last week obtained warrants for Almansoob, according to an Alabama Media Group report. He is charged with second-degree sodomy, production of obscene matter, possession of obscene matter, enticing a child to enter a vehicle for immoral purposes, traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act, electronic solicitation of a minor.

He is being held on $1 million bond.

"We’re thankful to Colorado authorities for putting this suspect on our radar. Mr. Almansoob is a sexual predator whose preferred victims are young teenage girls," said Hoover police Capt. Gregg Rector. "His actions are sickening, and the seriousness of his crimes are certainly reflected in the criminal charges and the high bonds that they carry. Our kids must be protected from individuals such as this."
