Hoover Man Charged With Sex Crimes Involving A Juvenile

HOOVER, AL — A Hoover man was arrested and charged with multiple sex crimes involving a juvenile girl. Malcolm Jeffery Payne, 56, was taken into custody Nov. 18.

A report from the Hoover Police Department said Birmingham police informed them of a possible sexual assault that occurred in Hoover. Detectives from the Hoover PD Special Victims Unit contacted Payne, who met with detectives at the Hoover Public Safety Center where he was taken into custody.

Charges against Payne include sodomy, human trafficking, electronic solicitation of a child, enticing a child to enter a vehicle or house for immoral purposes and possession of obscene matter.

Payne is being held at the Jefferson County Jail on $500,000 bond.
