A 58-year-old Hoover man was arrested by Shelby County Sheriff's deputies Saturday and charged with sexually abusing two teens.

HOOVER, AL - A 58-year-old Hoover man has been charged with sexually abusing two girls under the age of 16. Donald Kirk Barnard was arrested Saturday by the Shelby County Sheriff's Office and charged with two counts of sexual abuse and two counts of enticing a child for immoral purposes.

A report by Alabama Media Group states that the alleged crimes occurred in August 2017. According to court records, Barnard lured the girls into his home for the purpose of "proposing the fondling or feeling of the sexual or genital parts of such child."

The Hoover Police Department launched the investigation in March. Shelby County sheriff's deputies arrested Barnard and booked him into the Shelby County Jail. He was released the same day after posting $42,000 bond.
