Hoover PD And Hoover FD Honor Student Writers
The Hoover PD and Hoover FD honored student winners of poetry, art and essay contests related to firefighting and School Resource Officers.

HOOVER, AL - The 2019 Hoover City Leaders Breakfast was held last week at Discovery United Methodist Church where members of the Hoover Police Department and Hoover Fire Department honored student winners of poetry, art and essay contests related to firefighting and School Resource Officers.
The annual event, organized by the Hoover Parent Teacher Council, included guest speaker Dr. Ron Dodson of the Riverchase Career Connection Center, Hoover City leaders, school board members/officials, and various members of the police and fire departments.

Hoover PD Chief Derzis was honored to present the following awards:
- 1st place- Akshaya Peddi, Riverchase Elementary, for her essay on School Resource Officer Stan Porter
- 2nd place- Tasnim Alqublani, Shades Mountain Elementary, for her essay on SRO Rocky Renno
- 3rd place- Sarah Kate Phillips, Rocky Ridge Elementary, for his essay on SRO Jon Autry
