Hoover Police Department Is Hiring New Officers

A new salary structure for police officers in Hoover will likely make the recruiting process easier.

HOOVER, AL - Candidates looking for a job as an officer with the Hoover Police Department have a chance to join the force at an improved salary scale. The new scale, which goes into effect Oct. 1, should make filling current vacancies in the department easier for the Hoover PD.

With the new salary scale, the minimum starting salary for a Hoover police officer is $47,122.61. The scale also means a topped-out police officer can earn $84,625.43. The variation in salary increases was dictated by how far the current pay scale is out of line with other jurisdictions, with some adjustments made for internal equity purposes. The council approved the new salary scale this month.

“We are very happy the Mayor and the City Council adopted this new salary structure," said Hoover Police Chief Nick Derzis. "Our personnel work very hard and put their life on the line every single day they put that uniform on. They should be compensated at the highest level possible.”
