Hoover Police Investigating Early Morning Homicide

The Hoover Police Department is currently investigating a homicide that occurred at approximately 3:30 Friday morning.

HOOVER, AL - The Hoover Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred early Friday morning at a Hoover apartment complex.

According to a Hoover PD report, Friday morning at 3:38 A.M., Hoover 911 received a call of shots fired near the 700 building of The Cliffs at Rocky Ridge apartment complex. Responding officers arrived to find a 22 year old male suffering from a gunshot wound.

Hoover Fire Department paramedics pronounced the victim dead on the scene. The Hoover PD report says evidence suggests the victim was armed and was able to return shots toward his assailant. "At this time, it is unknown if the suspect or suspects received any injuries. Two vehicles belonging to residents of the apartment complex in the parking lot were stuck by gunfire," the report says.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Tavarius Jamal Bryant of Hoover, Alabama. "At this time, we have not located any eye witnesses to this shooting nor are there any suspects in custody," The HPD said in a statement. "We believe the victim was specifically targeted and there is no threat to the public."
