Hoover Residents Particpate in Research Conference At UA

Several Hoover and Spain Park alumni participated in the Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Conference on March 27.

TUSCALOOSA, AL - Among the nearly 500 participants in the University of Alabama's Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Conference were several Hoover residents. The 12th annual conference is hosted by UA's Office for Undergraduate Research and the Office for Research and Economic Development.

The Hoover residents who participated are:

Katie Bostrom; Presentation: "Superstitions and Personalities" in the Social Sciences category.

Jennica Mancarella; Presentation: "Stitching History: Connecting Eras Through Design" in the Fine Arts-Creative Activity.

Emily Passmore; Presentation: "The Socio-Economic Impact of Nonprofits in West Alabama" in the Business category.

Tyler Rhodes; Presentation: "Spherical Additive Manufacturing 3D Printing Project" in the Engineering, Transportation and Energy category.

The conference spurs interest in research among undergraduate students and helps students polish their communication skills, said Dr. Kim Bissell, director of the Office for Undergraduate Research.

"We have got some pretty phenomenal students who are truly doing great things," Bissell said.
