Hoover Robbery Victim Holds Suspect At Gunpoint Until HPD Arrives
A man wielding a knife attempted to rob a Hoover man, but was held at gunpoint by his would-be victim until Hoover police arrived.

HOOVER, AL — A Cullman man who was allegedly trying to rob a Hoover man discovered he was outmatched by his would-be victim. William Victor Shadden, 33, reportedly attempted to rob a man while wielding a knife, but the victim brandished a gun and held Shadden until Hoover police could apprehend him.
According to an Alabama Media Group report, the victim opened the rear passenger door of his work truck and was startled by Shadden, who was sitting in the passenger seat of the truck. Shadden then reportedly showed his knife and demanded money.
This was when the victim tossed his keys at Shadden and pulled his concealed carry firearm, forcing Shadden to drop his knife.

Shadden initially gave officers a false name but was positively identified by his fingerprints. Once his true identity was learned, officers discovered the suspect had two outstanding warrants for his arrest, including one for breaking into a vehicle in Jefferson County.
Hoover PD has charged Shadden with first-degree robbery, unlawful breaking and entering of a vehicle and obstructing justice. He will be transferred to the Shelby County Jail where he will be held on bonds totaling $25,000.
