Hoover Schools Budget Includes $15 Million Deficit
The Hoover City Schools proposed budget for the new fiscal year totals more than $200 million.

HOOVER, AL — Hoover City Schools Superintendent Kathy Murphy is proposing to spend $205 million in the coming fiscal year, while receiving $189 million in revenues and $830,000 from other sources, according to a budget proposal presented to the school board Thursday night.
The budget proposal includes a large number of capital projects, and revenue would not cover all of the proposed projects, Murphy said. However, Murphy wants the projects to move forward anyway.
A Hoover Sun report said the $205 million in projected expenditures includes $19 million in capital projects such as an $8 million 18-classroom expansion at Berry Middle School, which school officials hope to begin in October.
