Hoover Superintendent Finalist For State Position
Hoover Superintendent Kathy Murphy is one of four finalists to head up the Alabama Department of Education.

HOOVER, AL - Hoover City Schools Superintendent Kathy Murphy was named one of four finalists to head up the state's board of education.
Murphy announced last week she was seeking the position, which has been vacant since former Superintendent Michael Sentance resigned in September. Former state superintendent Ed Richardson has served as interim superintendent since then. Murphy was one of 41 applicants for the position.
Murphy joins a list of finalists that includes Eric Mackey, executive director for the School Superintendents of Alabama and previously superintendent for Jacksonville City Schools; Craig Pouncey, superintendent for Jefferson County Schools; and Robert Scott, former education commissioner. The state board is expected to make its decision April 20 after the four finalists are interviewed in Montgomery.
