Hoover Trench Collapse: Deceased Workers Identified

Two men from Guatemala have been identified as the workers who died on a Hoover Job site.

HOOVER, AL - Two men who died after a trench collapsed on a job site in Hoover have been identified.

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the men as Gaspar Manueal-Pedro, 46, and 28-year-old Matias Gaspar-Lopez. Both men lived in Birmingham and were from Guatemala, according to a WBRC report.

The attorney for Water Drainage Solutions, where the men worked, says the company is doing everything it can to help the victims’ families.

An investigation of the incident is under way by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration.

A spokesperson with OSHA said the agency is required to issue any citations that may come from their findings within six months.
