Hoover's Hazardous Waste Day Is Saturday, April 13
Hoover residents can safely dispose of chemicals in their garages, storage areas and basements this Saturday at the Hoover Met.
HOOVER, AL - This Saturday, April 13, Hoover residents can safely dispose of any hazardous materials they may have in their homes. Each year, the City of Hoover spoindors Hazardous Waste Day at the Hoover Met do that people can clean out their garages, basements, work areas and medicine cabinets and properly discard any hazardous chemicals.
The annual event is a way for the residents of Hoover to safely dispose of household chemicals, pesticides, paints, batteries, automobile fluids, electronics, medications, guns, ammo and other hazardous items.
The event takes place from 8 a.m. until noon, and only Hoover residents can participate (verification of address will be required).

The Environmental Protection Agency says that improper disposal of hazardous household wastes can pollute the environment and pose a threat to human health. Certain types of HHW have the potential to cause physical injury to sanitation workers and contaminate septic tanks or wastewater treatment systems if poured down drains or toilets. They can also present hazards to children and pets if left around the house.
