Here are the top three stories today in Hoover:

  1. A Shelby County school automatically enrolls students in military-sponsored leadership classes. According to AL.com, Vincent Middle High School (VMHS) is one of 13 schools that has enrolled more than 75 percent of students in a particular grade in Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps classes for the 2021-2022 school year. At VMHS, 95 percent of students have been enrolled in JROTC. (AL.com)
  2. A new mac and cheese restaurant is coming to Hoover. After a two-year wait, the Florida-based franchise I Heart Mac & Cheese will open tomorrow (Dec. 21) at 2503 John Hawkins Parkway, according to the restaurant's Facebook page. Additional Alabama locations — including Samford, Florence, Tuscaloosa, and Birmingham — are coming soon. (Subscription: The Business Journals)
  3. The City of Hoover will be following a holiday schedule in the upcoming weeks. Closures will take place on Dec. 23 and Dec. 26 for a Christmas break, as well as on Dec. 30 and Jan. 2 for the New Year. Happy holidays to all! (City of Hoover)
