HOOVER, AL - As the holiday shopping season ramps up, so will police presence in popular shopping spots in Hoover throughout the holiday season. An increase in crime seems to accompany the increase in shoppers at stores and malls, so the Hoover Police Department announced that additional officers will be on hand starting Thanksgiving Day as stores begin opening for business.

"Officers will have an increased presence in our retail areas and will be monitoring busy intersections through the end of the holiday season," said the HPD in a release. "These Officers will operate out of the Hoover Police Mobile Command Center, which will be parked in the Costco parking lot off of Galleria Boulevard."

The HPD also said that if traffic becomes congested in the retail areas, officers will be able to make manual adjustments to the traffic flow in an effort to keep people moving to their destinations. Other Officers will focus their efforts on the safety and security of our shopping centers by patrolling the parking lots and having a visible presence inside the stores.
