Loss Drops Bucs To 5th In ASWA Poll
Hoover fell from the top spot in the ASWA poll this week, coming in ranked fifth in the state in Class 7A.

HOOVER, AL - The Hoover High School football team finds itself in some unfamiliar territory this week - although many teams would love to have Hoover's problem. The "problem' is that the Bucs find themselves with the lowest ranking they have had in years, after a loss to Hewitt-Trussville Friday night. However, don't go feeling sorry for the defending state champions just yet. The Bucs are ranked 5th in the most recent Alabama Sports Writers Association poll, despite carrying a 2-2 record.
To be fair, Hoover's losses have come at the hands of a national powerhouse in St. John's (out of Washington, D.C.), and a high-powered Hewitt-Trussville offense. Hoover has defeated two No. 1 teams this year, the 6A defending champs in Pinson Valley, and previous No. 1 Thompson. The bucs battle Oak Mountain this weekend.
Spain Park, with a loss to Mountain Brook Friday, remained out of the Top 10 and looks to rebound this weekend from three consecutive losses. That will not be easy, as the Jags play the team that just knocked Hoover out of the top slot. Spain park visits Hewitt-Trussville Friday.
