Man Accused Of Computer Tampering, Distributing Obscene Images

A Graysville man is accused of using a Hoover resident's email address to distribute obscene material.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A Graysville man was arrested and charged with computer tampering and distributing obscene material. Hoover police issued warrants against 26-year-old Garrett Wayne Higginbotham Tuesday, and the man turned himself in Thursday.

Hoover police said they launched an investigation in November after a Hoover resident reported receiving an obscene email from an email address he no longer used.

"After further analysis, it was determined that the email account was compromised after the victim received on-line tutoring from a male acquaintance," The Hoover PD said in a statement. "The suspect then used the victim’s email address to send several obscene images and emails of a sexually graphic nature to other individuals."
