Man Dies After Fall From Balcony At Hoover Retirement Home

A resident at the Rocky Ridge Retirement Center on Lorna Road fell from his third floor balcony.

HOOVER, AL - A man living at the Rocky Ridge Retirement Center on Lorna Road in Hoover was pronounced dead after falling from his third floor balcony. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 69-year-old Terry Hugh Kemp.

An Alabama Media Group report said said Kemp – who has family in the Bessemer area – recently moved to the retirement community. Just before 2 p.m. Tuesday, he was standing on the balcony talking to someone on the ground below when he apparently fell forward.

Kemp was taken to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:37 p.m.
