Man Dies In Jefferson County Shooting

A 23-year-old man died in a shooting in south Jefferson County Sunday night.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — A 23-year-old man is dead after a shooting near the Brighton community Sunday night. The incident occurred just before 7 p.m. in the 4300 Block of Bessemer Super Highway.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office has taken over the investigation into the shooting, at the request of the Brighton Police Department, according to Sgt. Joni Money.

Money said the victim is a Hispanic man, but she did not release the name of the victim. Deputies found the victim dead on the scene of the shooting.
