One Victim Dead, One Injured In 280 Accident
A wreck on Highway 28 Thursday night claimed one life, while another victim was hospitalized with serious injuries.
JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — An accident on Highway 280 Wednesday night resulted in one fatality and a one hospitalization. The accident occurred on U.S 20 at Shades Crest Parkway.
David Agee of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said deputies were notified just after 8 p.m. of a wreck on 280, and arrived to find a vehicle off the road into a ravine.
"The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, Agee said. "The driver did not survive the injuries from the ejection and was pronounced deceased on the scene."

The passenger was still buckled in his seat belt when rescued, Agee said. He was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
The Sheriff’s accident reconstruction team is investigating the accident.
